Student Symposium 2014

RNP: Structure meets function

Dear invited speakers and fellow students,

We, the organizing team of the RNPnet student symposium, are delighted to welcome you to the 'RNP: Structure meets function' symposium 2014.
The goal of the RNPnet is to bring together existing labs from different discipline, to join forces and tackle key questions in the field, and second, to produce highly-trained young researchers that will be sensitized to RNA and possess a multidisciplinary approach to research. The projects are centered on three main biological topics (pre-mRNA processing, RNA editing and modification, RNA surveillance and regulatory RNAs) and are tackled with different disciplines in a cooperative and integrative manner. The groups in the network are experts in different technologies including organic chemistry, structural biology (NMR, X-ray crystallography and cryoEM), biochemistry, biophysics, high-throughput RNA-protein mapping, computational biology and live cell imaging. Our aim is to host exceptional scientists working at the forefront of the RNA field for a twoday symposium attended by you.
On Thursday, the first session will comprise of three talks by invited scientists and a poster session. In the afternoon, we plan a tour to Česky Krumlov with an organized dinner. The second day includes another five presentations and an additional poster session from us students. To further foster interactions between students and speakers, we hope that you will be able to join us for a visit to the Budweiser brewery to enjoy a glass of the great local beer follwed by dinner. This will be followed by an informal after-dinner discussion forum, which will complete the programme.

The RNPnet Symposium will be held in the:

Biology Centre, Czech Academy of Sciences in České Budějovice (Budweis), Czech Republic on 4th to 5th September 2014.

On behalf of the Symposium Committee

Ina Huppertz, Sameer Dixit, Hassan Hashimi
